I’m attempting something stupid: trying to write two books at the same time for no money. My (stupid) thought process is that if I’m forced (by me) to write one chapter a week of a book here on substack and then focus on my other book the rest of the week then theoretically I can finish two books at once.
The following is the first part of a serialized story about our new protagonist, John Moron. Despite my apprehension to actually follow through on this plan, I think it’s coming out very well so far. Here’s some kind words from me on me:
”McDonough’s luminous and deeply moving story is a work of quiet perfection. John Moron emerges from it not only as an archetypal American, but as an unlikely existential hero, standing, like a figure in a painting by Edward Hopper, in stark relief against an unforgiving world.”
Please enjoy.
